New Mazda3 gets 5 stars on Euro NCAP safety tests
The new 2019 Mazda3 has received five stars in the latest Euro NCAP safety tests. Following on from last year's Mazda6, This is the second Mazda to receive the highest five-star rating in line with the new accident resistance ratings.
The new Mazda3 impressed all four categories of Euro NCAP tests - adult passengers, child passengers, pedestrian safety and safety assist.
This can be attributed to three key factors: the adoption of the latest Skyactiv-Vehicle architecture, which provides a highly rigid body that mitigates the impact but softer, a broader range of i-Activsense advanced safety technologies that help drivers identify potential risks and reduce the likelihood of damage or injury; and improved performance in pedestrian protection.
With a truly remarkable 98 percent adult occupant protection score, the new Mazda3 achieved the highest frontal impact score. Mazda Smart Brake Support achieved the highest score in low speed tests, with collisions avoided in all scenarios.
The excellent 87% score for child passengers includes the maximum child protection score in dynamic tests for both frontal and side impact. Pedestrian safety tests reached 81% with maximum points to protect the foot and pelvis. And an impressive 73% in the Safety Assist category pays tribute to the effectiveness of the comprehensive i-Activsense safety feature set.
